Some More Rambling From The Bronze
May. 29th, 2004 11:16 amIn response to a query from tiggy, in reguards to my Angel-hate and the episode "Blind Date".
tiggy~Yes, you're correct. "Blind Date" is where my lingering hate for Angel began. It's also the episode in which the conjugation of Angel/Lindsey cemented forever in my mind. The juxtaposition of this is not lost on me, either.
Coming not long after the events of "Five by Five" is what set the hate off, I suppose. Angel forgave and helped Faith, who by anyone's standards, had done more evil at that time than Lindsey had. I'm not saying Lindsey wasn't on the wrong side. He clearly was.
Granted, Angel was upset and angered because Lindsey had won the case against Vanessa Brewer. In my opinion, Angel's attitude toward Lindsey was petty, unforgiving, and extremely malicious. It took courage for Lindsey to go to Angel in the first place. And Angel didn't give him credit for making the gesture, and he could have made all the difference to Lindsey's path in life. But he didn't. He could have changed things for Lindsey. But he didn't. *snorts* Right before Lindsey showed up, Angel had been missing the clarity of evil. When he looked up and saw that lost look on Lindsey's face, I guess he found a little evil clarity after all.
But the thing that did it for me was the thing with the mind readers. It was the look on Lindsey's face as he sat in that chair in front of Holland Manners. *That look* is what took Lindsey from occasionally amusing guest to a major player for me. I know that look. I've had it on my face. That's how you feel when something has happened that's so devastating, your brain shuts itself off, and you must force yourself to function, to even respond to anyone at all. Yeah, I understood Lindsey.
Then, he got back to AI, and they were like, "Oh, we thought you died." Like, no big deal. One less lawyer for us to worry about.
Well, bam! Angel hate.
And can I ramble or what? *eg*
